The Language Stopped Mattering. The Ecosystem Didn't.

People keep saying that with AI, the programming language you pick no longer matters. I decided to test it by building a real CLI tool in Python, a language I don't actually know. Generating the code was a non-issue, so that part of the claim holds up. What tripped me up was everything around the code: how the project gets structured, how packaging works, the ecosystem conventions I'd normally have in my head. My takeaway is that language fluency is now a design choice, but you have to replace the confidence it used to give you. For me that meant leaning hard on tests, CI, and coverage requirements, because coverage plus CI is how you catch the mistakes you can't catch by reading code in a language you barely speak.

Your Podcast Guest Is Content, and You're Their Reach

A lot of new podcasters feel guilty asking someone to come on the show, like they're begging for a favor. Over on The Steady Pack I argue you should name the trade out loud instead: your guest gives you their time and expertise, which becomes your content, and you give them your audience and promotion, which becomes their reach. Once you see it as an even exchange, the guilt goes away and you start holding up your end better with clips, show notes, and a shareable guest kit. Do that consistently and guests come back, refer other guests, and you've got a pipeline that keeps you from scrambling every week.
